for everyone

MARCH 08, 2008 - 3:00 PM @ UST MAIN FIELD
CFAD - 5 versus ARCHI - 4
ALL THE PIX HERE ARE MYKE MOTUS' SHOTS..

It certainly is the most sensational, thrilling and inspiring game ever in the UST GOODWILL GAMES.. I almost soiled my pants and gad.. hehe and i almost had a heart attack... cliche as it may seem but it is so true---- NEVER GIVE UP!

The college of Architecture scored the first three goals. They scored the first goal during the first minute of the first half. They were aggressive and determined to beat CFAD.. Their offense were making good plays and attempts. Yanik was exceptionally impressive.. the skills man grabe.. he's one of the best footballers I've seen.. They were on fire, as their scored two more goals! Making CFAD FC trail behind, 3-0. The whole CFAD community and friends were in awe.. Is this for real.. CFAD down by 3? CFAD was victorious against Arki during their semi finals game they scored 3-0.. It seemed that the tables were turned.. We were scoreless.. I honestly don't know what to feel then.. I said to myself then.. sana kahit isang goal lang.. But we have faith in our team, we hoped and prayed..... All throughout the first half there were numerous jaw dropping attempts that were saved and block by Archi's keeper --- Dan.. Everybody from CFAD wanted to throw DAN out of the field.. [hehe peace DAN! muah] Free kicks were given to CFAD but unfortunately our ace midfielder Mark Barquin# 7 couldn't convert the attempts.. This too was unbelievable, everyone knows that-- Mark is the best accurate kicker ... Call it a series of unfortunate events for the CFAD TEAM!

Then came the highlight of the game.. the turning point... when our rookie right midfielder DITRIK WIENEKE #12 scored the first goal for CFAD during the last 15 mins of the second half! The "FIRESTARTER DITRIK" did it again.. Everyone thought it was over for CFAD but once again, he saved the day.. The CFAD players and community rejoiced and knew that it is not too late! Ditrik's long volley kick goal, fueled the guys inside the green battle turf to fight with all their hearts! The defensive players Josh Yap # 17, Kris Reyes # 4, Hussein Tejol # 19 and Carlos Santiago # 15 stepped up and displayed superb defense which prevented the main threat Yanik Tuason to penetrate and score more goals. The midfielders Mark Barquin # 7, Ditrik Wieneke # 12, Perry Santiago # 9, Omar Ramadan # 10 and Mar Mungacali # 11 displayed exceptional ball handling skills, play making decisions and passing. Lone Striker Jesse Andres # 23 became more driven to take shots. Keeper Kevin Reyes # 24 became more determined to defend our goal. The whole team became more aggressive, defensively and offensively.

Then came another chance to score as the keeper committed an error. A penalty kick was awarded to CFAD. Captain MARK BARQUIN # 7 rose up to the challenge.. He shot it over the wall of defenders and above the keepers grasp! Holy guacamole, 2 goals in 8 mins! The CFAD crowd cheered and celebrated! now all they needed was another goal to tie it!

Everyone was saying their silent prayers. Time was ticking and it was almost stoppage time -- entering the last 5 minutes of the game. Hindi maipinta ang mukha ng mga taga CFAD. Will this be the end of our reign.. oh no! But then again, Impossible is nothing!... "Firestarter" DITRIK WIENEKE # 12 took the challenge of setting the corner play for CFAD... It was an accurate pass to our former CAPTAIN - MVP - BEST MIDFIELDER [2007], CARLOS 'BOK" SANTIAGO, scored the third goal for the team. Ang Pogi ng HEADER kasing pogi nya! Now this is when the crowd and the team went wild! Supporters of CFAD team roared, rejoiced and jumped off their seats! Bok ran straight to the CFAD bench with his fists closed and hands raised to his chest. He was very emotional, the whole team and CFAD community were very emotional. Napuno ang sidelines ng alikabok because everyone kept jumping, shouting and cheering. Who would have thought? 3 goals in 15 minutes! Aint that remarkable?!

There was an extension time of 30 minutes, 15 mins per half. CFAD scored two goals during the first half of the extension time. Carlos Bok Santiago # 15 scored the 4th goal for the team, the tie breaker goal. It was a header coming from a Mark Barquin's corner kick. Nutmeg pa! wooohoo Jesse Andres # 23 this year's MVP scored the 5th winning goal, which was a volley kick. Then again the crowd went wild! Worried faces now gone, it was overwhelming .. Everyone was smiling, shouting and celebrating. We smelled the sweet stench of Victory up in air!
Ayun happy ending for the team! who would have thought?!?!? Puso lang yan!

NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE HEART OF A CHAMPION!
